How did you get into stand-up comedy?
I have always wanted to perform on stage, ever since I was little. I was born in the UK but Polish was my first language, so I learnt about clowning very early on. I chose my university course because it had stand up comedy as a module. I was 19 when i first did a gig and it felt like I had always known it.
Where do you get your inspiration for your material?
What is beautiful about comedy is you can talk about anything, i have tackled dick jokes to euthanaisia, dating material to cancer. With love and thought, comedy is the most healing and precious artform, Every day life is the inspiration.
How do you deal with hecklers or a tough audience?
Its difficult, in the UK, ever since the lockdown, audiences have become more challenging, much more interference and disruption. Most of them are amazing but every now and then it can be horrible. Hecklers are easy enough but its when audiences start coming on stage and disrespecting the art from that it becomes problematic.
What is the funniest or most memorable moment you've had on stage?
A gig in Glasgow, I had a wonderful show with a lively audience, I received a standing ovation and then a wave of laughter, as I was taking a bow my puppy had come on stage and done a pooh. The audience cheered and crowd surfed a pooh bag. That was pretty brilliant.
What's been the highlight of your career as a stand-up comedian so far?
Difficult question. The highlight has to be that im still doing it. Every now and then I will pull off a show that will be magic. I think to still be able to do it despite all the odds is pretty wonderful.
Do you already have an impression of Switzerland and the Swiss, if so what is it?
Hahhaha only that you are reserved? And loaded. That is all I got!
If you had to choose a favourite city, Zurich or Basel?
Can I pick Bern instead? I am very excited to be visiting Bern with my Polish Bernese Mountain Dog!
