How did you get into stand-up comedy?
I made a comedy film that played at The Edinburgh Film Festival. The Edinburgh Comedy Festival was on at the same time, I started seeing comedy up there, got into it, booked in for my first open mic the following year.
Where do you get your inspiration for your material?
From real life. I write down any funny thoughts and experiences and hope the audiences also think they’re funny.
How do you deal with hecklers or a tough audience?
I like to deal with it in the moment, I think the best way of dealing with hecklers is just making the audience laugh at your jokes and stories, it helps silence the hecklers.
What is the most memorable moment you've had on stage?
Recently I had someone in the audience give me a ticket to an Arsenal match. That was cool.
What's been the highlight of your career as a stand-up comedian so far?
I have performed on TV a few times and done some big festivals. I won some awards for a documentary I made about a comedian and that documentary is now on Amazon Prime, that was pretty cool.
Do you already have an impression of Switzerland and the Swiss, if so what is it?
I love Swiss chocolate and Swiss chocolate, so I am looking forward to the food! The scenery looks lovely, from what I’ve seen on Instagram too.
If you had to choose a favourite city, Zurich or Basel?
I’ve heard both are lovely. I’m not sure I should choose. But I know people who live in Zurich, so I should probably say that.
How do you see more of Joe Bor?
